Protects personnel and equipment from liquid metal splash during pouring
FlameShield SplashGuard is a very heavy duty fiberglass woven fabric with an extra thick coating of high durometer silicone rubber (SR) which protects from molten liquid metal splash, and is used extensively in foundry operations. The coated fabric repels due to the liquid metal splash expanding when it contacts the surface, thereby cooling, and the silicone rubber is a thermal conductor, thereby dissipating the hot spot. The base material provides support to the coating, and also provides burn through protection.
